Engine and Performance
At the heart of the 2006 Banshee SE lies the legendary 347cc, liquid-cooled, two-stroke, parallel-twin engine, featuring reed valves and dual carburetors. Unlike modern four-strokes, the Banshee is known for its aggressive powerband, explosive acceleration, and high-RPM screams, producing a respectable 34 horsepower in stock configuration. It is exclusively paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, offering a 4×2 rear-chain drive. It lacks a reverse gear, emphasizing its pure sport, dune-ready nature.
Chassis and Handling
The 2006 Banshee is designed for performance, built on a lightweight 386 lb (dry) chassis. Suspension duties are handled by an independent double-wishbone front setup offering 9.1 inches of travel and a rear swingarm with 8.7 inches of travel. Stopping power is provided by front dual hydraulic disc brakes and a single rear hydraulic disc brake. It rides on 21×7-10 front and 20×10-9 rear Dunlop tires.
Legacy
Production of the Banshee in the United States ended in 2006, though it continued in other markets for a few more years. The 2006 SE represents the last opportunity to own a new, factory two-stroke sport quad. It is the ultimate choice for enthusiasts prioritizing raw, two-stroke power and classic, aggressive styling.
